The National Research Mentoring Network (NRMN) is proud to announce that over twenty thousand individuals across the nation are now harnessing our virtual mentoring platform MyNRMN for mentoring and professional development.
As part of NRMN’s mission to diversify the STEMM workforce, NRMN launched MyNRMN in 2016 to encourage the process of formal and informal mentoring.
MyNRMN is a joint collaboration with the University of North Texas Health Science Center and the Vanderbilt School of Medicine. Over the past five years, the teams have steadily increased the MyNRMN’s growth, which, in turn, brought it national notoriety. Both teams also work to update the platform and create new features that strengthen the mentorship process.
Here are the benefits that you will receive when joining MyNRMN:
Connecting with Mentors and Mentees: In MyNRMN, members can search, reach out and connect with other mentors and mentees to provide or receive mentorship. Through its Ask a Mentor feature, mentees can pose questions about research, graduate school or other topics to everyone on the platform and receive advice.
MyMentor: For new mentees searching for a formal way to be mentored, the platform offers a guided virtual mentoring program, MyMentor, where they receive guided prompts and goals to facilitate their connections.
NRMN Unconscious Bias Course: The platform also offers the NRMN Unconscious Bias Course—a five-module course that helps people address their personal unconscious bias, teach them about microaggressions and discuss biases and disparities in medicine and healthcare.
New Jobs and Internships Board: The team also recently released a Jobs and Internship Board—a central location for members to share and apply for opportunities that help them along their STEMM career pathway.
