The mixer was organized by a Boston College student, a post-doc researcher residing at Boston college, and Adán Colón. SACNAS chapters from other regional universities and colleges were invited to come together at Boston College and network with fellow members from various chapters. Members from SACNAS chapters at UMass Boston, UMass Amherst, Harvard Medical School, and Boston College were present.

The attendees participated in a “get-to-know-you” scavenger hunt. Members went around the room searching for other members with various traits and characteristic, while simultaneously learning more about individuals and stepping out of their comfort zones. There was also a raffle held with prizes to win.

One of the attendees was a post-doc researcher from Harvard Medical School. He is involved in community outreach programs, focused on helping to deliver public health services to certain communities. Part of his research is focused on understanding how to reach individuals in a specific community, and creating strategies for contact.
