How is MyNRMN different from an NRMN Guided Virtual Mentorship?
MyNRMN is an open platform that allows you to create a profile and connect with other users (mentors and mentees from the undergraduate through senior faculty levels). MyNRMN is an online community that you are free to access as often as you like, with no pre-determined curriculum or set structure for when and how you might communicate with others in the community. You can more actively browse profiles of mentors and mentees in the community and build connections, hold conversations, and collaborate one-on-one, in groups, or however you choose.
NRMN Guided Virtual Mentorships– MyMentor, always take place between one mentor and one mentee, and have a distinct start and end date. Once you connect with your mentorship partner, your guided mentorship unfolds over the course of four months. During this time, the two of you will typically communicate 20-30 minutes per week, and the process is “guided” because you and your partner will watch brief video clips and receive regular discussion prompts via email that are designed to spark discussion by offerings suggested topics and themes for you to explore during your one-on-one sessions.
