This October at SACNAS 2016 in Long Beach, CA, and then again at ABRCMS 2016 in November in Tampa, Florida, The National Research Mentoring Network hosted a special “Meet and Greet” networking event that brought together conference attendees to connect with the broader NRMN community. The first of their kind, these events invited all members of the NRMN community in attendance at the two conferences to mingle with one another, and offered opportunities for those less familiar with NRMN to gain inspiration from hearing from current NRMN members who all share a passion for the importance of mentoring to success in science.
Over 80 conference attendees turned out at SACNAS 2016 for the new networking opportunity, including students from the BUILD programs, and a diverse mix of students and investigators with varying levels of prior familiarity with NRMN and its various program offerings.
