Hello, my name is Johnny Garza! I am the new Digital Communication Strategist for the National Research Mentoring Network. I graduated from the University of North Texas with my BA in Public Relations. I’m currently working on my MA in Communications. I have a passion for social media and other communication outlets. I’m grateful to be working for NRMN located within the UNT Health Science Center at Fort Worth. I’m very excited to learn, grow and make an impact with NRMN. Thank you for welcoming me with open arms!

Before NRMN, I was the Communications Specialist for Big Brothers Big Sisters Lone Star. It was my first job in the Communications field after 8 years of being in the banking industry. Being in Communications, I’ve been able to grow my talents and get into different realms, such as advertising, graphic design, marketing, etc. I wanted to be a part of the NRMN family because I love the center’s mission of bringing diversity into the biomedical workforce. Diversity is very important in a work environment, and I’m glad I’m able to help with that. I’m also a firm believer in the power of mentorship. Mentoring is vital for young professionals, and it’s always great to see mentees learn and share their interests with a mentor. I see NRMN making a big difference in the community and I see a bigger future for the center.
