Robert Tillman, PhD – University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center

Robert Tillman, PhD serves as Director of the Department of Faculty & Academic Development at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston. In his role, he supports the professional development and health and wellness of faculty, fellows, and students at MD Anderson. At MD Anderson, he has been a lead in developing the Faculty Mentoring Program, and has been engaged with leadership and career development programs run through his office that train MD Anderson Faculty and the larger academic community. Having developed and delivered training for academic populations at positions at New York University, the New York Academy of Sciences, and Columbia University Medical Center, Dr. Tillman has engaged individuals across the academic career continuum and respects the value of mentorship in developing and sustaining career vitality.
His engagement in the National Research Mentoring Network as a NRMN Master Facilitator began with his role as a site facilitator for a study looking at outcomes of structured mentor training through an NIH/NCRR ARRA Administrative Supplement provided to the UW‐Madison Clinical and Translational Science Award in 2011. He has continued to provide mentoring training at MD Anderson and the larger Texas Medical Center community through the Gulf Coast Consortium for Quantitative Bioscience. He continues to be active in the Association of American Medical Colleges’ Group on Faculty Affairs and in the National Postdoctoral Association.
