Emily Utzerath, MA – University of Wisconsin-Madison

Emily Utzerath, MA is the Assistant Director of Mentoring Initiatives at the Institute for Clinical and Translational Research at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She is also the Assistant Director of the Mentorship Training Core (MTC) of the National Research Mentoring Network (NRMN). She applies her higher education administration expertise to these roles by overseeing coordination of project initiatives, including training implementation and curriculum development. She also co-directs the NRMN Facilitator Training Program and NRMN Facilitator Certification Program, which help institutions build local capacity for sustainable mentorship programming.
Ms. Utzerath continues to be an active facilitator, leading workshops and training sessions for the Big Ten Academic Alliance, Clinical and Translational Science Institutes, NIH BUILD institutions, and others. Her curricular expertise includes Entering Mentoring, Facilitator Training for Entering Mentoring, and Culturally Aware Mentoring.
Prior to this role, Ms. Utzerath was the Assistant Director of an interdisciplinary early-career faculty development program at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, a Junior Historian and Museum Educator at the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum, and an Assistant Art Curator at a contemporary art space in Munich. She holds degrees from the University of Colorado Boulder (MA, German Studies) and the University of Wisconsin-Madison (BA, English).
