The University of Minnesota presents the “Faculty Diversity Matters: Cultivating Wisdom, Moving to Action” Symposium.

On April 17th-19th, 2016 the University of Minnesota presents a panel of key speakers discussing the topic of recruiting, retaining, and advancing American Indian faculty and faculty of color. The speakers are Nancy Cantor, Susan Phillips, Alicia Dowd, and Richard J. Reddick. Dr. Angela Byars-Winston and other members of NRMN’s Mentor Training Core will be presenting information about their newly developed Culturally Aware Mentoring mentor training module, currently in the beta testing stage.
This symposium will bring together bring together scholars, practitioners, and leaders committed to understanding and promoting faculty diversity in academia. There will be opportunities to share wisdom about faculty community-building, to engage in shared work related to faculty diversity, and offer possible solutions to the problems of recruitment and retention of faculty of color.
Registrants will also have the opportunity to attend a panel presentation titled “The Black Panthers: A Love Story.”
