November Webinar: Protecting Yourselves and Others from Stereotype (Social Identity) Threat

Join us on November 29th at 2pm EDT as Drs. Michelle van Ryn and Sean Phelan discuss Stereotype Threat.  Stereotype Threat is a situational predicament in which people are aware (consciously or unconsciously) that they may be being judged or perceived according to stereotypes about their group category. Hundreds of studies have shown that it can be easily triggered and causes a cascade of negative effects included temporary loss of skills and behavior that confirms stereotypes.

Participants will:

• Achieve a deeper understanding of what stereotype (social identity) threat is and how it might affect them and those around them.
• Gain also emerge with a set of ideas, principles and strategies that they can use to protect themselves and others from stereotype (social identity) threat.

This online panel will be most suited to undergraduate students through senior faculty members as well as administrators.
