Facilitating Entering Research Workshop @ University of Wisconsin-Madison

On behalf of the National Research Mentoring Network (NRMN), it is our pleasure to invite you and your program faculty to apply to participate in a train-the-trainer workshop to support your efforts in implementing mentee training that strengthens productive research mentoring relationships with diverse mentees.

Workshop Overview:

In this two-day event, participants will learn about Entering Research, a mentee training curriculum designed for undergraduate and graduate trainees who are involved in a mentored research experience.

Participants will learn evidence-based approaches to mentee training and gain the knowledge, confidence, and facilitation skills needed to design and implement training at their institutions. Participants will build their own custom curriculum based on the needs of their trainees by selecting from over 90 activities that address a variety of areas of trainee development, including research skills, interpersonal skills, research attitudes and beliefs, cultural awareness and skills, and professional and career development skills.  Please see the attached flyer for additional information on this workshop.

Participant Qualifications:

• Participants are faculty, post-doctoral fellows,  instructors, staff, or administrators from colleges, universities, and academic health centers
• Participants are committed to implementing mentee training courses, seminars, or workshops for undergraduate or graduate trainees on their home campus during  2018.  Note:Participants must submit as part of their application a letter of support from their dean or department chair indicating institutional support for your planned mentee training implementation
• If application is accepted, participants will register on NRMNet.net to confirm workshop attendance
• Participants will complete a post-workshop evaluation survey

Application Details:

Registration for the workshop is supported by NRMN; however, participants will be required to pay for their own travel and lodging.
