DEADLINE EXTENDED: Applications for NRMN Grantwriting Coaching Groups in Washington D.C.
September 15, 2017
Program: October 28-29, 2017 (in-person training) through February 2018 (virtual meetings)
Application Deadline Extended: September 15, 2017 at 5:00 PM
The NRMN’s Southeast Training Hub in collaboration with Research Centers in Minority Institutions (RCMI) will host pre-conference sessions on October 28 – 29, 2017 for Grantwriting Coaching Groups and Shark Tank at the 2017 RCMI Translational Science Conference . Graduate students, Postdocs, Junior and Mid-career faculty considered as trainees/mentees engage in training that provides a structured group sequence focused on teaching trainees rhetorical patterns and effective writing techniques for NIH-style proposals.
Developed at Northwestern University, this model involves:
- 2-day intensive workshop involving peer and coach reviews
- One-to-one coaching sessions
- Follow up online weekly or bi-weekly group coaching sessions to support progress on the grant application
The Grant Writing Coaching Group is for graduate students, faculty, postdocs, or new NIH investigators preparing a new or resubmitting a revised NIH F-, K-, or R-series proposal who are ready to write at program start and senior faculty who want to learn an effective grant writing model they can implement at their own institution. The Shark Tank program is an additional incentive that provides investigators with unfunded K- or R-series grant proposals the opportunity to obtain critical input from coaches whose goal is to successfully assist in helping the researcher’s proposal move to a status of funded upon its resubmission.
