NEST 2016: Understanding and Re-imagining Pathways to Careers in Science and Scientific Training
NEST is a unique, trainee-driven retreat that creates a venue for open discussions intended to catalyze transformative, long-term changes in scientific training and program practices. The primary focus is on understanding the perspectives of trainees regarding the current landscape of scientific training and pathways to science careers as well as their vision for the future of training, program practice, and careers in STEM.
Insight gained at the retreat will help to establish guiding principles that will refine intervention practices and lead to improved career access, pursuit, persistence, and success for trainees in the sciences, with emphasis on the life, biomedical, and public health fields. Trainees at the undergraduate, post-bacc, graduate, and post doc levels are welcome. Participants will also include guest faculty, who function as facilitators for small group discussions.
To register, please visit http://www.mbl.edu/conferences/. All trainees may choose to receive a travel award of $150, to be applied during registration. Attendance is capped at 100 participants, with preference given to trainees on a trajectory towards graduate and post graduate careers in the life, biomedical, and public health fields and to academic faculty committed to scientific training and program development.
