Launching Research Part 2

Launching Research Part 2 is our brand new course within MyNRMN. This course is designed for the mentee and is the continuation of Launching Research Part 1.

The purpose of this course, Launching Research, Part 2: Tools for Organization and Investigation, is to inspire students to confidently explore research and acquaint them with skills they will use throughout their education and career. The purpose is also to introduce the concept that research can provide new and exciting opportunities.

This course is divided into three modules. The first module introduces the user to data gathering, scientific and engineering methods, and data management and practices. The second module addresses the SWOT analysis, collaboration, research misconduct, and citation /reference management. The third module covers authorship and publication, theses and dissertations, scientific meetings, and intellectual property (patents and other IP).

Each module will take approximately 45 minutes to complete, and users can pause between lessons within the modules. A certificate is awarded upon completion of the course.

If you are a faculty, PI, administrator, etc., and would like to have your students/mentees take the course, we can help you create your own cohort/group and start enrollment. Email us at info@nrmnet.net to get started!

Jobs and Internships Board

The Jobs and Internships board is a beneficial tool for STEMM professionals to access many career opportunities. For example, you can utilize this feature if you need help promoting a job or internship. Or, if you are looking for something for yourself, the opportunities posted in the Jobs & Internships Board range from job postings to funding opportunities to summer research and many more career opportunities. To access the new Jobs & Internships Board, log into your MyNRMN account and select “Jobs & Internships” from the menu bar at the top of the dashboard. It’s easy to post a job and leave comments on posts to provide your recommendations.

My Projects

The Projects feature tool can be used to create projects and have multiple users assigned to work on that project. Project members will have a space to start a conversation about the specific project and receive feedback from the diverse network of MyNMRN. This is a great tool to use if you want to receive differing opinions on this project outside your specific institution or company.

We trialed a demo for the feature, gave the project the name “Lemon Battery Experiment,” and added the details asked in the project’s text boxes. In addition, you can add “Research Keywords” that work as tags to be directed to this specific project. There is an option to add collaborators to work on this project with you. These project collaborators need to have an account in MyNRMN. Under the project owners feature, you can add your project details. This is where you can provide all the items you need or any specific information you would like the network to review.

Please log in to MyNRMN to find the new My Projects tool on the menu at the top of the screen.
