Unconscious Bias Course
MyNRMN has launched its inaugural asynchronous My Course: Unconscious Bias. In the Fall of 2019, NRMN partnered with Drs. Linda Solis and Mirabelle Fernandes Paul to create what is now the five Unconscious Bias modules, housed within My Courses in MyNRMN. Drs. Solis and Fernandes Paul did not know each other, but both were experts in the study of unconscious bias and collaborated to develop NRMN’s first course. When we started working on this course, we had no idea what 2020 had in store for us. The Unconscious Bias course is now ready at a time when we need it most.
Within the Unconscious Bias course, you’ll find 5 modules which can be taken all at once or individually. These modules will introduce you to unconscious bias, walk you through microaggressions, provide a solutions toolkit, develop your self-awareness, and finally, display how unconscious bias affects everyone in regard to medicine and healthcare.
This course is available now for any individual NRMN members. Additionally, we are also working with organizations and institutions to enroll their groups in the course, whether it’s something they want to recommend or require for their participants. If any organizations or institutions would like additional customizations for their participants (branded certificates, perhaps?), let us know and we would be happy to discuss the possibilities and a fee structure.
We are so proud of this course and what it contributes to our mission to diversify the STEM workforce! When you’re ready, login to MyNRMN, access the new My Courses feature, and enroll in the Unconscious Bias Course (or click the link below to go directly to the course). After you complete all of the modules, you’ll receive a certificate and we look forward to watching everyone proudly display their accomplishment!
