The SACNAS National Conference is the annual meeting of the Society for Advancement of Chicanos/Hispanics and Native Americans in Science (SACNAS). The conference’s goal is to inspire, engage, and train you to achieve your highest goals in pursuing an education and career in the STEM fields.

Whether you are an undergrad, graduate, postdoctoral researcher, or career professional, the programming of the conference is specifically tailored to support each transitional stage of your career as you move towards positions of leadership.

At the 2015 SACNAS conference, there will be over 100 scientific symposia and professional & leadership development sessions, hallmark “Conversations with Scientists” informal round-table discussions with SACNAS mentors about discipline-specific career paths, chances for professionals to network with federal agencies during a special brunch, and hundreds of degree programs and professional opportunities available in the exhibit hall.

Overall, nearly 4,000 diverse scientists will be present in an environment where the intersection of science, culture and community serves as a celebration of identity and diversity.

At the event, the National Research Mentoring Network (NRMN) will be presenting a workshop, entitled “Tips to Becoming an Effective Research Mentor Across Career Stages.” This workshop will be led by a group of four NRMN Master Facilitators (Kermin Martínez-Hernández, PhDAnne Lynn Gillian -Daniel, PhDLori Adams, PhDAmy Prunuske, PhD). NRMN will also be co-sponsoring multiple sessions led by DiverseScholar (www.DiverseScholar.org) and will have a booth in the exhibition hall.

Building on evidence-based materials being disseminated and further developed through NRMN, this interactive session will offer participants a set of strategies to become better research mentors. Participants will engage in exemplar activities and learn how to effectively utilize these materials with their research mentees across career stages.
